Is This A New Rising Star In A Hot Industry Group?

Wall Street is beginning to think so. Trimble Navigation (TRMB) reported quarterly results a week ago and easily surpassed estimates. Revenues were reported at $829.7 million vs. $785.7 million, while EPS sailed past estimates, $.61 vs. $.51. We've seen the entire industry - electronic equipment ($DJUSAI) - blowing away the S&P 500 over the past six months. I'd say it's one of the top 5 industry groups currently. TRMB is a leader within the industry, printing a new 52 week high vs. both its peers and the benchmark S&P 500 in 2021:

TRMB seems to be in a nice channel higher, along with its industry and many of its peers. We can argue if we'd like, but it probably wouldn't do any good. Wall Street likes the growth prospects here and, as a result, so do I. ZBRA is a stock in this industry group that already resides in one of our portfolios and it may soon be joined by others in this space. It might be TRMB, or maybe not. But one thing is clear. Electronic equipment is a favorite child right now on Wall Street and we need to take notice.
