Lockheed Martin (LMT) Makes Case For Defense

Many times, the best stocks heading into earnings are those that have been performing well vs. their peers and those that belong to strong industry groups. Lockheed Martin (LMT) has broken out in 2020 and it certainly could be the beginning of a very strong year. There's a lot to like about the following chart:

Defense stocks ($DJUSDN) broke out to begin the year and did so on increasing volume. We're not only seeing sudden absolute strength in LMT shares, but we're also seeing LMT shine relative to its defense peers. The relative strength line broke out to a fresh 52 week high and all of this is pointing to the likelihood of a strong quarterly earnings report on Tuesday.
